The theme Hawthorn Handmade had selected for their new look Shopify store realised nearly all of their designer's vision, but there were still some features and layout options it didn't provide. That's when they called me!

Project Details
When it came to completing Hawthorn Handmade’s redesigned Shopify store, I was brought onboard to edit their new theme’s code – adding additional functionality and configuration options so they could achieve the exact look and behaviour imagined by their designer.
Updates included: adding custom fonts and additional typography options, support for configurable full width header and footer background images, product page feature icons displayed based on a product’s tags and configurable padding/spacing options to enhance page layouts at various screen sizes.
I have continued to work with Hawthorn Handmade following the relaunch of their Shopify store offering support and implementing additional enhancements as required.
I’ve updated the store’s Cart page to include a checkbox that a customer can select to indicate that the order is a gift. If checked a textbox is displayed to allow the customer to enter an optional message which is then included on the dispatch note.
I’ve replaced the Cart page statement “Delivery is calculated at checkout” with details of shipping rates and delivery timescales. I also added tabs to the Product page template to allow customers to switch between the product description and shipping details. I made the shipping details text configurable via a new theme customisation option so it can be updated as and when required.
My work on Hawthorn Handmade’s D2C store led to me being hired to build them a new wholesale website.
Owen listened carefully to what we needed and worked with us and our graphic designer to create a site that does exactly what we need it to and since launching has more than doubled our conversion rate. I’d recommend him to anyone looking to improve their web presence!
